East Hickory Hill School
Between 1898 and 1910
Teacher: George Albert Branson

The above photo is believed to be Hickory Hill School located in Webber Twp. however, the teacher at one time also lived in Hickory Hill Twp. Wayne County, the picture has not been positively identified but it seems probable from census information that it is most likely East Hickory Hill School, Jefferson county, IL.

Here is what I know about George Albert BRANSON that would help date the picture, and possibly pinpoint the location.

1870 census - taken before George was born - parents were living in Hickory Hill Twp., Wayne Co., IL.
1870 - George Albert BRANSON was born in Wayne Co., IL.
1880 census - age 10 - living in Hickory Hill, Wayne Co., IL. 27 Mar. 1897 - He was married in Jefferson Co., IL.
1900 census - age 29 - living in Weber Twp., Jefferson Co., IL.
1910 census - age 39 - living in Webber Twp., Jefferson Co., IL.

Family tradition says that sometime around 1910, George and his wife and children moved to Orlando, FL for the sake of his wife's health. She had tuberculosis. They never moved back. I would guess that the picture was taken sometime between 1890 and 1910. The only person I can name in the picture is the teacher.

Think the boy next to you is Max Lowery, Mark's bro.
