Ray Parker Wilson

Ray Parker Wilson, 91, of Bluford died 3:40 p.m. June 30, 2003, at his home. He was a farmer and a truck driver.

Mr. Wilson was born Sept. 27, 1911, in Wayne County to Willie Wilson and Florence (Youngblood) Wilson.

He married Mildred I.(Cameron) Wilson Sept. 21, 1935, in Fairfield; she died,Oct. 18, 1996.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Dr. Billy G. Hahs will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his son, Ron Wilson and wife Barbara of Mt.Vernon; daughters Georgia Scott and husband James of Bluford, Norma Shreve and husband Robert of Mt.Vernon, Margie Dement and husband Richard of Mt. Vernon and Betty Hall of Bluford; grandchildren Chris Wilson of Carlyle; Mike Scott and wife Marcia of Bluford; Brenda Lowry and husband David of Locust Grove, Ga., Natalie Irwin and husband Greg of Woodlawn, Tammy Foster and husband Mike of Dallas, Texas, Brian Wilson of Los Angeles, Calif., Karen Griffen and husband Ryan of Gainesville, Fla., Katheryn Allen and husband Bob of Orlando, Fla., Jeff Allen of Frankfort, Ky., Lisa Asbury and husband Steve of Mt. Vernon, Kris Shreve and wife Becky of Wayne City, Kevin Shreve and wife Penny of Fairfield, Kerry Shreve and wife Ellen of Wayne City, Stacie Goodheart and husband Mark of Mt. Vernon, Stephanie Herrington and husband Doug of Edwardsville, Greg Hall and wife Cathy of Louisville, Colo., Leslie Witzel and husband Shane of Woodlawn, Jason Hall and wife Michelle of St. Peters, Mo. and Vickie Waddell of Gainesville, Fla.; 27 great-grandchildren; special friend Vera Ellis of Mt. Vernon; a daughter-in-law, Merry Lynn Wilson of Gainesville, Fla.; a brother, Mitchell Wilson of Bluford; and a sister, Hazel "Doll" Wiggins of Bluford.

Farming and family were Mr. Wilson's greatest loves.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a son, William Walter Wilson; a grandson, Steven Wayne Scott; a brother, Jack Wilson; and a sister, Blanche Wilson.

Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice or the ALS Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, I11 62864.
