Of Opdyke Died
At Age 61
Murrel Eugene Wilson, 61, died at 2:40 a.m. March 15, 1988, in
Veterans Administration Hospital in Marion.
Mr. Wilson was born Oct. 10, 1926, in Jefferson County, a son of
Raymond and Vivian (Wilderman) Wilson.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Hughey Funeral Home
with the Rev. Richard McCormick officiating. Burial will follow in
Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Military graveside rites will
be conducted by VFW Post 1376 of Mt. Vernon.
Mr. Wilson is survived by three sons, Brent Wilson of Opdyke,
Ronald E. Wilson of St. Peters, Mo., and Larry W. Wilson of Kingston;
five daughters, Peggy Jean Feigenbutz of Richmond, Va., Patsy Ann Buesking
of Ewardsville, Patricia Ann Morman of Aurora, Sandra Lynn Harrison of
Des Plaines, and Cheryl Elaine Braden of Mt. Vernon; several grandchildren
and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Otto G. Wilson of Joliet, and
Donald L. Wilson of Deltona, Fla.; three sisters, Betty L. Gentle of Lithonia, Ga.,
Lois L. Wilkerson of Belle Rive, and Lila M. Shelton of Dahlgren; and several
nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wilson served in World War II (Navy), and was a member of VFW Post 1376,
Sportsman’s Club, American Legion Post 141, Eagles and AMVETS, all of Mt. Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter.
