Lowell Ervy Wilson

Lowell Wilson Of Kansas City, Mo., Died At Age 73

Lowell Ervy Wilson, 73, of Kansas City, Mo., and formerly of Mt. Vernon, died 2:30 a.m. Aug. 6, 1990, at Independence Regional Hospital in Independence, Mo.

Mr. Wilson was owner and operator of King City Auto Body Repair for several years.

He was born Aug. 11, 1916, in Jefferson County, a son of Joseph Daniel and Vesta Edith (Dees) Wilson.

June 7, 1939, in Jefferson County, he married Harriette Ellen Ayers, who survives.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home with Stanley Greathouse, Olen Henson and Clarence Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Wilson is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Jim (Carolyn Sue) Kling of Phoenix, Ariz.; one son, Monty Lowell Wilson of Kansas City, Mo.; three brothers, Glen Harvey “Mutt” Wilson and wife, Geraldine, and Byford Wayne Wilson and wife, Mildred, all of Mt. Vernon, and Billy Joe Wilson and wife, Jessie, of Walnut Hill; two sisters, Mrs. Melvin (Vivian) Ballard of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Everett (Marita) Wells of Bonnie; two randchildren, Stephen R. Mathis and David Lowell King; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Wilson was a Navy veteran of World War II. He attended Bethel School in Jefferson County and Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa. He was a member of Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he was an elder of the church. He was pastor at churches in Salem, Mt. Vernon and Rantoul.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gail Harvey Wilson.
