Howard Kenneth Williams, 90 passed away September 14, 2008 in Mt. Vernon, Jefferson County, Illinois.

He was born September 30, 1917 in Jefferson County, Illinois the son of James Calvin Williams and Margery Pauline Williamson.

He is survived by his brother, Harold Calvin Williams of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 4 Sons: Kenneth Lee of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Donald Ray of Bonnie, Illinois, James Howard of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Jeff Lee of Bonnie, Illinois; stepdaughter: Debbie Kash of Scheller, Illinois; grandchildren: Nancy Marie, Chuck Allen, Christopher Lee, Zachary James, Ike Howard, Dakota Wade, Shane, Sara, Jonathan, Adam and Rebakah; and great grandchildren: Samantha age 2, James age 4, Jana age 6, Micah age 10, Coby age 9, Drew age 7, Brady age 3, Hayden 1 month and Andrew 10.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, his wives: Francis Ann Armstrong, Mary Francis Barnett and Peggy Ann Leffler, his daughter: Gwendolyn Nichols and his grandson: Benjamin Kash.

FACTS Howard was a lifetime resident of Jefferson County. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 520 for 62 years. He also served as Jefferson County Game Warden for 27 years. He was U.S. Army veteran of WWII and served as a gunnery and heavy equipment instructor at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

ARRANGEMENTS:

GRAVESIDE SERVICES: will be held at Williams Cemetery on Two Mile Creek Lane, Mt. Vernon, Jefferson County, Illinois at 1:00 P.M Thursday, September 18, 2008 with Major Ike Howard Williams, USAF, officiating. Members of the Illinois Conservation Corps Police Honor Guard will conduct ceremonies at the cemetery.

VISITATION: will be held from 5 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Williams Cemetery Association. Memorials will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Williams Cemetery Association, C/O Robert Bruce, P.O. Box 1765, Mt. Vernon, Illinois 62864.
