Debbie (Hodge) Whitener

Debbie Whitener Dies At Home On Bell St.

Debbie Whitener, a resident of Mt. Vernon for 32 years and wife of Henry L. Whitener, died at her home, 329 Bell street, yesterday morning at 8 o'clock. She was 70 years, five months and seven days of age at the time of her death.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at two o'clock in Myers' chapel. Burial was in Bethel Memorial cemetery.

Mrs. Whitener was born in Shelbyville, Ill., on Oct. 30, 1875. She was the daughter of Benjamin T. and Mary (Smith) Hodge.

She was married to Henry L. Whitener on Sept. 17, 1905.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Whitener is survived by two sons, Edgar Robison, East Prairie, Mo., and Rolla Whitener, Mt. Vernon; one half-brother, Frank Hodge, Popular Bluff, Mo.; one half-sister, MRs. Effie Garrison; Quiln, Mo. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
