Rosco Vern Whalen

Vern Whalen, 75, of Bluford, died at 12;20 p.m. Saturday (Jan 1, 1966) in Fairfield Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Bluford Funeral Home with the Rev. Ross Partridge officiating. Burial will be in Laird cemetery near Bluford.

The body will lie in state at the Bluford Funeral Home where friends may call at any time.

Mr. Whalen was born Mar. 27, 1890, in Wayne county, the son of John and Mary (Maulding) Whalen.

On Dec. 24, 1914, in Wayne City, he was married to Maude Butler, who survives.

He is also survived by two sons, Howard Whalen of Stockholm, N.J. and Noel Whalen of Lockport, Ill; two brothers, Roy Whalen of Rochelle, Ill., and Ed Whalen of South Roxana, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Goldie Jane Guthrie of Peoria; and seven grandchildren.

Mr. Whalen was preceded in death of his parents, two sons, three infant daughters, four brothers, and four sisters.
