John Rolla Wells, well known retired farmer residing west of Bonnie, died suddenly Friday afternoon at the age of 83.

He was born in Jefferson County, the son of Edward and Matilda (LYNCH) WELLS.

He was married to Donna HODGE, who survives.

He is also survived by 7 sons: Roy of Salem, Merle and Charles of Compton, Max of Oregon, Ill., Nobel of Westbrook, Everett of Bonnie, and Tom of Byron; a daughter, Mrs. Freda CASE of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a brother, Erie WELLS of Bonnie; 2 sisters, Mrs. Mayme SHELTON of Ina and Mrs. Ruby CAMPBELL of Bonnie; 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Hickory Hill Church, conducted by Rev. Harold WILLIAMSON. Burial was at the nearby cemetery.
