William C. Webb

WILLIAM WEBB
MT. VERNON

William C. WEBB, 95, Route 2, died 9:15 a.m. April 9, 1988, in Madison County Shelter Care Center in Edwardsville.

He was a recent resident of Edwardsville.

Mr. WEBB was born May 6, 1892, in Jefferson County, a son of Williamson C. and Mary M. (STONECIPHER) WEBB.

Oct. 12, 1912, in Jefferson County, he married Daisy STORMENT, who died Feb. 18, 1946.

Services will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger ZOLLARS and the Rev. Paul WIDICUS officiating. Burial will follow in Old Shiloh Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be held 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, conducted by Rome Lodge 721 of Dix. Memorials may be made to Friends For Sheltered Care or First Christian Church, both in Edwardsville. They may be accepted at the funeral home at any time.

Mr. WEBB is survived by four sons, William R. WEBB of Edwardsville, Charles Ed WEBB and wife Elnora of Mt. Vernon, Dennis WEBB and wife Marjorie of College Park, Md., and George WEBB and wife Annabel of Larwill, Ind; one daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Doris) BLACK of Jennings, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. WEBB was a member of Logan Street Baptist Church and a member of Rome Masonic Lodge 721 in Dix for 65 years.

He was retired from International Shoe Co. in Mt. Vernon and was a farmer.

Mr. WEBB was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Barney WEBB; two grandchildren; a brother, Herman W. WEBB; and four half-brothers.
