Samuel E. Weatherford

Rites for Samuel E. Weatherford will be held tuesday at 2:00 pm at Old Shiloh Church and burial will be in Old Shiloh Cemetery.

The body will remain at Myers Chapel, where friends may call at any time until the funeral hour.

Mr. Weatherford was born October 11, 1927 in Jefferson County the son of Elikam H. and Mary (Cruzen) Weatherford. His age at the time of death was 23 years, 11 months and five days.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a private first class with the 115th Station Hospital.

Besides his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Olen C. and Clifford M. of Mt. Vernon, and four sisters, Mrs. Edna Hoffman, Mrs. Evelyn Hall and Miss Maude Weatherford of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Katherine Hutchcraft of Lincoln, Ill.


TWO MT. V MEN KILLED IN AUTO-TRUCK CRASH

Steve Hayes, 23, and Samuel Weatherford, 23, Fatally hurt in Head-on Collision South of Centralia. Funeral Services Scheduled Tomorrow.

Two young men who resided near Mt. Vernon were killed early yesterday when an automobile they occupied and a big transport truck collided head-on two miles south of Centralia on US highway 51.

Fatally injured were:

Samuel E. Weatherford, 23, of RFD 2, Mt. Vernon and Steve E. Hayes, 23, of RFD 5, Mt. Vernon. The rural homes of both men are in Shiloh Township.

Reports were that Clifford Gray, 46, of Memphis, Tenn., driver of the truck was not injured.

The automobile occupied by the Mt. Vernon men was demolished and the transport truck was also considerably damaged in the terrific collision.

Bodies for the young men were brought to the Myers Chapel Funeral services will be held tomorrow.
