Maude I. (Hughes) Tucker

Maude I. Tucker, 91, of Mt. Vernon died 11:55 a.m. July 10, 2005, at Nature Trail Healthcare Center in Mt. Vernon.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Tucker was born Jan. 4, 1914, in DeSoto to George and Mollie (Williams) Hughes.

Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at DeSoto City Cemetery in DeSoto. The Rev. Chuck Ellis will officiate. Those attending the services are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Wednesday morning. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Mrs. Tucker is survived by a daughter, Gloria England of Bonnie; four grandchildren, Scott England and wife Jackie of Waltonville, Kevin England of Mt. Vernon, Missy Reed and husband Eric of Waltonville and Melanie England of Woodlawn; five great-grandchildren, Jaime England of Waltonville, Christopher England of Waltonville, Deanna England of Mt. Vernon, Ryan England of Mt. Vernon and Johnny Hails of Woodlawn; two sisters, Opal Peterson of Bonnie and Mary Maxine Greathouse of West Virginia; a brother, Homer Hughes and wife Mary of Highland, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Janet Hughes of Aurora; and several nieces and nephews, including Danny and Judy Peterson of Bonnie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.

Mrs. Tucker was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Bonnie and also attended First Free Will Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
