Blanche M. (Legge) Truran

Blanche M. Truran, 89, of Mt. Vernon died 7 p.m. Dec. 4, 2004, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

She worked for Automotive Electric Co. in Chicago, where she retired in 1969, and retired in 1979 as a seamstress with a garment factory in Sesser.

Mrs. Truran was born April 4, 1915, in Mt. Vernon to Roy E. and Leila (Piper) Legge.

She married William "Bill" Truran July 18, 1950, in Preston, Minn.; he died July 22, 1972.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. The Rev. Everett Lemay will officiate. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Mrs. Truran is survived by a son, Robert Truran and wife Deanna of Fairfield; grandchildren Audrey Singleton and husband Rick of Marion, N.C., Robert S. Truran and wife Sandy of Marion, N.C., Claudia Grisolia and husband Sean of Hampshire and Douglas Truran and wife Adrienne of Fairdale; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers Henry Legge of Galesburg and Harold Legge and wife Helen of Galesburg; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Norma Denniston; and a great-grandson, Michael Bidgood.

Mrs. Truran was an active member of the auxiliary at Crossroads Community Hospital. She helped run the gift shop and made quilts and many stuffed animals to raise money for the hospital. She was named as the first Lifetime Honorary Auxiliary Member by Crossroads Community Hospital Auxiliary in 2000 for all that she contributed to the auxiliary.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Crossroads Community Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O.
