Tracey L. (Champ) True

Tracey L. True, 66, of Mt. Vernon died 9:15 p.m. Nov. 28, 2003, at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. True was born June 7, 1937, in Woodlawn to Claude and Mary Isabelle (Beal) Champ.

She married Darrell True June 11, 1955, in Mt. Vernon; he survives. The Trues were married by the Rev. Ross Partridge, former pastor at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m., at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon; Arnold Peterson will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Mrs. True is survived by her mother, Mary Isabelle Champ of Mt. Vernon; her husband, Darrell True of Mt. Vernon; a son, Randy True and wife Cheryl of DeSoto; daughters Cathy Munyon and husband John of Woodlawn, Teresa O'Neal and husband Dennis of Mt. Vernon, Sheila Tackitt and husband Gary of Mt. Vernon and Patricia Krause and husband Ken of Wheeling; 12 grandchildren, Jay Munyon of Woodlawn, Josh O'Neal, Lucas O'Neal, Ethan O'Neal, Cody O'Neal Gabriel O'Neal and Alexandra O'Neal, all of Mt. Vernon, Jennie True and Emilie True, all of DeSoto, Daniell Tackitt and Shayne Tackitt, both of Mt. Vernon: a brother George Champ and wife Donna of Irvington; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Mrs. True was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was very active in the church's programs along with being in charge of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Food Pantry. She was leader of Dix's chapter of the Modern Woodmen of America Junior Service Club for 25 years. She was a Channel 3 Unsung Hero for Jump Rope for Heart. She was president of Dixico Ruritan Club. She was a donation coordinatior for the American Heart Association. She sent tray favors to the Marion V.A. Hospital and to various nursing homes each month. She took birthday cakes to the Southern Thirty Adolescent Center each month. Mrs. True was the Dix news correspondent for the newspaper. She was very much involved with her grandchildren along with decorating cakes, crocheting and helping others in any way she could.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Food Pantry and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. box 721, Mt.
