Robert K. "Bob" Thompson

Robert K. "Bob" Thompson, 65, 1500 Pace Avenue, died at 3:02 a.m. June 16, 1986, in Good Samaritan Hospital.

Mr. Thompson was born November 5, 1920, in Mt. Vernon, a son of Charles J. and Ruth D. (Dodds) Thompson.

On October 18, 1941, at St. Charles, Missouri, he married Marian L. Manley, who survives.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home with the Very Rev. Robert D. Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call at Hughey Funeral Home after 6 p.m. today.

Mr. Thompson was associated with, and held several positions with The Register News for 39 years, serving last as general manager. Following that he worked for Century 21 Bee Realtors as a real estate salesman.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Thompson is survived by one son, Charles R. Thompson of Chicago; two daughters, Mrs. John S. (Charlotte) Suhler of Darien, Connecticut, and Mrs. Chris G. (Debi) Dixon of Breese; one brother, William D. Thompson of Warrensburg, Mo.; five grandchildren, Ashley, Courtney and Brooke Suhler and Charlee and Casey Dixon; and several neices and nephews.

Mr. Thompson was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church. He was also a member of the Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge No. 31 AF & AM, Ainad Shrine Temple of East St. Louis, Jeffeson County Shrine Club, Oakwood Cemetery Board, Green Hills Country Club and Mt. Vernon Moose Lodge. He was a World War II Army veteran.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church or the Oakwood Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
