James Ronald Tennyson

James Ronald Tennyson, 72, of Belle Rive, passed away at 8:25 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

He was born in Hamilton County on Sept. 4, 1936, a son of Fred and Mary (Cross) Tennyson.

He married Norma Atchison on June 12, 1965, at the Belle Rive Missionary Baptist Church.

He worked several years at Caterpillar Company in Decatur. He later worked as a tester for General Radiator Company in Mt. Vernon and also did maintenance work at the General Tire plant.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Belle Rive Missionary Baptist Church; the Revs. Richard McCormick and Jeremy Hamson will officiate. Interment will follow at Belle Rive Cemetery.Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at the Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren and after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Mr. Tennyson is survived by his wife, Norma Tennyson; a sister, Mary Ann Moore and husband Everett of McLeansboro; two nephews, Kenneth Moore and Christopher

Moore; two nieces, Karla Tucker and husband Brad and Karen Davis and husband Herb; three great-nephews, Bran-don Davis, Jacob Moore and Joshua Moore; two great-nieces, Leslie Davis and Angella Tucker; one sister-in-law, Doris Mallory of Belle Rive; one niece-in-law, Lawanda Huggins and husband Tony; and one great-niece-in-law, Malora Faith Huggins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one great-nephew, Alexander Tucker; and one brother-in-law, D.F. "Bub" Mallory.

Mr. Tennyson graduated from Dahlgren High School and was a United States Army veteran. He was a member of Belle Rive Missionary Baptist Church.
