Norman C. Swem

Norman C. Swem, Retired Grocer, Dies at Age 58

Normal Carroll Swem, a former Camp Ground merchant, died at 9:55 last night at his home, 720 Kensington Avenue.

He was 58 years, ten months and six days of age.

Mr. Swem, who operated a grocery store at Camp Ground for 25 years, was a charter member of the A-G Stores.

In recent years he had operated a lawn mower sharpening shop.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Myers Chapel. The Rev. Eugene Holcomb will officiate and burial will follow in Oakwood cemetery.

The body will lie in state at Myers Chapel, where friends may call after 4:00 p.m. today.

Mr. Swem was born August 20, 1900 in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of William C. and Dora (Maxson) Swem.

In 1930 he was married, in Mt. Vernon, to Noma Reed, who survives.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Rosann Albrecht of Mt. Vernon; a sister, Jennie Kapp of Mercer Island, Washington; two brothers, Robert R. of Orlando, Fla, and William M. of Moses Lake, Washington; and one grandson.
