Harmon Summer

Harmon G. Sumner, was born in Jersey county, Illinois, June 12th, 1855, died January 11th, 1912, aged 56 years and 6 months.

He came with his parents to this county at the age of nine years.

On October 9th, 1881, he was united in marriage to Miss Emma Maxey.

To this union were born three children. Perry, the oldest, resides in Mitchell, S. Dak., Laura, who was with her father, and an infant son who preceded him to the better world.

The wife and mother was called from the home on January 24th, 1903.

In December 1903, he was married to Miss Ella McMeens. There were born to this union two children, Ruth and Johnny.

Deceased professed faith in Christ February 12th, 1893, at a cottage prayer meeting in his own home. He united with the F. B. church at Oak Dale and lived a consistent member until about 5 years ago.

At his death he was a member of the Harmony Baptist church. He was devoted to his church and was an efficient helper in the Sunday school work.

Funeral services were conducted at the church by Rev. C. E. Hunt, and the body laid to rest in Harmony cem.
