MRS. MARY SULLIVAN PASSED PEACEFULLY ON
Pneumonia Cause of Death of Aged Lady, Formerly Resident of this City.

Word was received from Pinckneyville Tuesday afternoon of the death of Mrs. Mary Sullivan, as was briefly mentioned in Tuesday's paper. Mrs. Sullivan was stricken Friday with pneumonia and it was thought that she could live but a few hours but she rallied and was so much better Monday that it was thought that her recovery was but a matter of a few days. A sudden turn for the worse came Tuesday and from this she never rallied, passing peacefully to her reward in the Great Beyond.

She was a member of the Methodist church since early childhood.

Mrs. Sullivan was born in Jefferson county January 18, 1831, and was 80 years old her last birthday. The birth place was in Shiloh township, near the old Capt. Moss homestead. She was the daughter of George and Mary Baxter and was born shortly after her parents came to this county from Kentucky. She was closely related to the late Mont Morrow, and old resident of the county.

When 20 years of age she was married to Joel M. Sullivan, at Pinckneyville, the family moving to that place from this county.

Of this union six children survive, as follows: Mrs. Ida M. Fountain and Mrs. J. J. Penny, of Long Beach, Cal.; Mrs. B. P. Murphy, Pinckneyville; Morris B. Sullivan, Little Rock, Ark.; Dwight H. Sullivan and Mrs. Will B. Goodrich, of this city.

The funeral arrangements have not been completed but it is believed that the services will be held Thursday afternoon at the Methodist church in Pinckneyville.
