Etha Atchison Stover, 96, of the Christian Village in Lincoln and formerly of Mt. Vernon, died 12:06 p.m. April 27, 1995, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

She was a retired administrator of the Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Mt. Vernon, and formerly worked at Glassman’s Department Store in Mt. Vernon, the Herrin Ordinance Plant, the Geneva State Girls School, the Mt. Vernon Township Relief Office and the Jefferson Co. Juvenile Placement and Adoption Agency.

Mrs. Stover was born July 3, 1898, in Jefferson County, a daughter of John Henry and Effie (Crane) Atchison.

July 27, 1916, in Jefferson County, she married Roy DeWitt Stover, who died in 1941.

Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home with Mr. Charles McNeely officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until the funeral hour Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home.

Mrs. Stover is survived by two granddaughters, Peggy Stover Howe of Mt. Vernon, and Rosita Stover Jenkins and husband Marvin of Lincoln; four great-grandchildren, Michelle Jenkins Reiners of Atlanta, Ryan Lynn-Anne Jenkins of Lincoln, Julia Carr Goree of Mt. Vernon, and Anthony Bruce Carr of Edwardsville, Kan.; six great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Lloyd “Dutch” Atchison and wife Irma of Orange Park, Fla.

She attended Carbondale College in Carbondale, and the American College of Hospital Administrators in Chicago. She was a member of Central Christian Church in Mt. Vernon having worshipped at the Jefferson Street Christina Church in Lincoln.

She was also a member of the American Hospital Association, the Illinois Hospital Association, the American Legion Auxiliary having held both state and local offices. She was a veteran of World War I Auxiliary, having held both state and local offices, Business and Professional Womens Club, Rebekah Lodge, Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, and the Jefferson Memorial Hospital Board.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Stover was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Roy Dee Stover; a brother; and three sisters.
