Albert L. Stivers

Dr. A. L. Stivers Dies Suddenly at Salem Road Home

Dr. Albert L. Stivers, an optometrist, collapsed and died suddenly from a heart attack at 8:45 this morning at his home on the Salem Road.

Dr. Stivers was working on the driveway at his home when he was stricken.

Mt. Vernon firemen were called and rushed to the scene with the city-owned inhalator. They reported that upon their arrival a physician was there and had already pronounced Dr. Stivers dead.

The body was taken to Myers Chapel. Funeral arrangements were incomplete late this morning.

Dr. Stivers was born in Metamora, Ill.

He was married to Pearl Pace, who survives.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two brothers, Will and Arch Stivers, both of Memphis, Mo.

Dr. Stivers was a member of the Central Church of Christ.
