Hettie (Prince) Stitch

Mrs. Oscar Stitch, surrounded by her family and friends passed away at her home at 414 Main St. Her death was due to tuberculosis of the lungs, a long and wasting illness dating back for nearly two years. Mrs. Stitch was relieved from her suffering at 8:45 a.m., April 2, 1910.

Hettie Prince Stitch was born May 23, 1874 and at the time of her death was 35 years 10 months and 10 days old. Nearly her entire life was spent in Mt. Vernon where she attended school, graduating from the Mt. Vernon High School and afterwards teaching in the city schools.

In 1896 she was married to Oscar O. Stitch, four children being born to them: Irene, aged 12; Helen, aged 10; Alice, aged 8; and Harold, aged 5.

These together with her mother, Mrs. Alice Blythe, her sisters, Minnie Prince and Louise Blythe and brother Ray Prince, all of St. Louis, Mo. are left to mourn her.

At the age of 11 years she united with the First M. E church of this city and on the completiton of the Epworth M. E. church she united with that church and remained a member till she died..
