Clifford W. "Cliff" Stewart

1930-2005

Funeral services for Clifford W. (Cliff) Stewart , 75, of West Plains, were held Sunday, Sept. 11 at Central Church of Christ. Burial was in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Stewart died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005, at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains.

He was born Jan. 4, 1930, in Waltonville, Ill., the son of Virgil Allen and Madia Opal (Bean) Stewart.

He married Mae Ola Black Nov. 8, 1947, in St. Louis.

He was an evangelist in the Church of Christ for 53 years. He performed hundreds of baptisms, weddings and funerals during his years of ministry. He also was an inspector at Systems and Electronics, Inc. for 30 years.

He enjoyed woodworking, writing and research, reading westerns and bluegrass music.

Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife, Mae Stewart; three daughters, Cheryl Roberds and her husband, Bill, of Bethalto, Ill., Pam Divelbiss and her husband, Randy, of Gepp, Ark., Andrea Craig and her husband, Mike, of Hugo, Okla.; two sons, Wayne Stewart and his wife, Elena, of Washington, Mo., and Lowell Stewart and his wife, Lana, of West Plains; 19 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Morris Stewart; one sister, Erma Humphrey and her husband, Phil; and many nieces and nephews.
