Thaddeus S. Staley

"Thad" Staley, 81, Dies Early Today at Home in Dix

T.S. "Thad" Staley, a retired farmer, died at 12;30 am today at his home in Dix. he ws 81 years, four months and ten days of age.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 pm at the Pleasant Hill Baptist church with the Rev. Ross Partridge and the Rev. Gerald Fox officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery.

The body will remain at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, where friends may call at any time after 2:00 pm Friday.

Mr. Staley was born March 21, 1871, the son of William and Martha (Underwood Staley).

He was first married to Minnie Brookman who preceded him in death April 28, 1936. He was later married to Mrs. Dora Tackett, who survives.

Mr. Staley was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist church.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Roy and Orie Staley of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Mrs. Beulah Thompson of Rock Falls, Ill., and Mrs. Myrtle Lane of Bluford; 23 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

A daughter, Mrs. Gertie Brown, preceded him in death last year.
