Mildred Marie "Millie" (Meador) Staley

Mildred Marie "Millie" Staley, 75, of Mt. Vernon, died 3 p.m. Jan. 18, 2007, at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

She was born on May 6, 1931, in Mendota, to Mason Meador & Opal (Fields) Meador.

She married Harry E. “Dick” Staley on Oct. 22, 1949, in Jefferson County.

Millie worked in the Bakery Department at Country Fair Grocery in Mt. Vernon.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Rev. Richard McCormick will officiate. Burial will be at East Salem Cemetery in Jefferson County.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Millie is survived by her husband Harry E. “Dick” Staley of Mt. Vernon; son Michael D. Staley and special friend Carolyn Herriman of Mt. Vernon; daughters Cynthia Dawn Hall and husband Boyd of Mt. Vernon, Edith S. Buchanan of Mt. Vernon, Shelia D. Bowdler of Belle Rive, and Michelle L. Baumgarte and husband Clint of Benton; grandchildren Shawn Staley, Dustin Buchanan, Ashli Gay, Candice Bowdler, Drew Bowdler, Emma Karrick and Reid Baumgarte; great grandchildren: Dacoda “Cody” Staley and Katlyn Staley; brothers Robert Meador of Mesa, Ariz., and Ronald Meador of Seymore; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Her parents, brother Joe Meador and sister Dorothy Rodgers preceded her in death.

Millie was a member of East Salem Baptist Church and a member of the Friendship Club at the church for over 50 years.
