Lorene A. Smith, 84, of Mt. Vernon died 9:10 a.m. Oct. 19, 2004, at Jeffersonian Care Center in Mt. Vernon.

Mrs. Smith was born July 27, 1920, in Benton to William Arthur and Leona Maude (Wilkerson) Strain.

She married Harold H. Smith; he died Nov. 12, 1976.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Calvary United Pentecostal Church, 114 S. 25th St. in Mt. Vernon. Steven Edwards will officiate. Burial will follow at Kirk Cemetery in Ina. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and after 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Calvary United Pentecostal Church in Mt. Vernon.

Mrs. Smith is survived by a daughter-in-law, Gail Smith of Mt. Vernon; three grandsons, Matthew Smith of Mt. Vernon, Andrew Smith of Mt. Vernon and Jonathan Smith of Mt. Vernon; a brother, William Strain of California; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a son, M. Keith Smith, who died Jan. 28, 2004.
