Anna Isabelle "Belle" (Burch) Smith

LONG AND USEFUL LIFE ENDS TODAY AT EARLY HOUR

Mrs. Anna Isabelle SMITH, Widow of Jesse Hassel SMITH Will Be Buried Sunday Afternoon in Smith Cemetery.

Mrs. Anna Isabelle SMITH, widow of Jesse Hassell SMITH, 624 Tolle Road, died at the family home this morning at 4 o'clock.

Funeral services conducted by the Rev. W. B. MORRIS, will be held Sunday afternoon, at 1 o'clock at the First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Smith Cemetery in Moores Prairie.

Mrs. SMITH is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Helen BENJAMIN of Irvington, Ill.; Miss Hattie BURCH and Mrs. Elsie WATT, both of Tilden, Ill.; and two step-sons, Kirby SMITH and Anson Clark SMITH, both of Mt. Vernon; and two step-daughters, Mrs. Cora ROHRER of Tulsa, Okla. and Mrs. R. L. ROANE of Opdyke.

Mrs. SMITH had been a mother to the children of Anson Clark SMITH since their mother's death 37 years ago, viz: Jesse H. SMITH of Bloomington, Ill.; Miss Loraine SMITH and Miss Lenna SMITH both of Mt. Vernon; and Lloyd P. SMITH who died in the military service of the United States, one of the first, if not the first, to die in the World War, credited to Jefferson County.


*NOTE* I think this should say children of her stepson, Anson Clark Smith (1865-1938). His wife Sarah Ann (Holder) Smith died in 1896. You can see Anson's children on his Findagrave Memorial.


Mrs. SMITH was a woman of many virtues and in her long and useful life, a life filled with deeds of love and mercy for those near and dear to her, and others, she was an inspiration to those who knew her. She neglected no duty or responsibility and was a home maker in the fullest sense of the word. She will be remembered for the good she did.

Mrs. SMITH was born in Genosee County, New York, May 28, 1854, and she had lived 75 years in Jefferson County. Her age at the time of death was 79 years, five months, and 12 days.

Her marriage with Jesse Hassell SMITH took place in 1887, and he preceded her in death in 1892.

Mrs. SMITH was a member of the Richview Presbyterian Church until its dissolution.
