Randle Smith

Randle Smith, was born in Ireland Feb. 1st, 1844, died at his home in Jefferson county, Ill., March 27, 1910.

Moved with his parents to Canada when he was two years old, shortly after which his parents died leaving him an orphan with two brothers and one sister, came to Ill. about the close of the war, came to this county about the year 1866.

In 1869, Oct. 14 was married to Katie Reynar to which union was born five children two of whom preceeded hm to the better world.

His first wife died May 5th, 1887.

Married to Miss Louvina Quick, Oct. 30, 1887, was converted in 1881 and joined the M. E. church south at Dix, Ill., later moving his membership to Union Chapel where he retained his membership until death, being a faithful member, always loved his church and bore his part.

He leaves a wife and three children and a host of friends and neighbors to mourn their loss.

During his last sickness he was willing to leave it in the hands of God, calling his wife and children to his bed and bidding them goodbye: his wife asking him if he had any request to make to her or the children, said to them to live right and work for one another good and to see after his poor boy.

The funeral was conducted by Rev. Monroe Smith at Antioch church followed by Rev. A. L. Smith with several other preachers present.
