Jennie (England) Smith

Again the Angel of Death has visited our community and this time called from earth Jennie SMITH, at 7 o'clock Friday morning, May 14, 1926.

The deceased was the youngest daughter of William Jerry and Sarah (Allen) England and was born in Shiloh township on October 15, 1900, being at the time of her death 25 years, 6 months and 14 days.

On April 16, 1919, she was united in marriage to Robert E. Smith of Geneso, Illinois and to this union two children were born, Dean age 6, and Evelyn age 3.

Jennie's stay on earth was short as to years but her life was full of service and thoughtfulness to all around her. She has been ill a long time but she bore her sufferings with fortitude and patience, ever considerate of her husband, father, mother, sisters, brother, who have devoted their whole time to making her comfortable.

At an early age she professed a faith in God, during a meeting at New Hope church and one of her last thoughts was of this Savior for she said, "The Lord has called me and I must go."

She leaves to mourn her departure a father and mother, husband and two children two sisters, Miss Ethel England of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Kate Wright of St. Louis, an one brother, William England of Mt. Vernon, besides relatives and friends.

You have lost her whom you loved.
Stilled the voice
so sweet to hear,
Now the hands by death are gloved,
Warmed by love for many a year.
