Clarence Gilbert Sigwerth

C. J. Sigwerth Dies Suddenly at Waltonville

(Cl)arence Gilbert Sigwerth, 58, died at 2:55 a.m. today at his home in Waltonville following an apparent heart attack.

Mr. Sigwerth was employed by the Viking Freight Lines in Mt. Vernon.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Fry Funeral Home in Waltonville with the Rev. T. A. Shaffer officiating. Burial will be in Knob Prairie Cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the Fry Funeral Home where friends may call after 6:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Mr. Sigwerth was born Aug. 1, 1903, in Oklahoma City, Okla., the son of Joseph and Lora (Wagner) Sigwerth.

On July 14, 1906 at Murphysboro, he was married to Martha Mattie Mannen, who survives.

He is also survived by five sons, Charles and Robert Sigwerth of Joliet, Clarence, Jr. of Lockport, Ill., Urban Hugh and Darrell Clayton Sigwerth at home; a daughter, Mrs. Marryta Rainey of Willows, Calif.; a brother Victor Sigwerth of Sesser; two sisters, Miss Pearl Sigwerth and Mrs. Ethel Hodge of Nason, and four grandchildren.

Mr. Sigwerth was a member of the Methodist church at Waltonville.

The date of marriage is difficult to read, but looks like 1906, which would be incorrect, as Mr. Sigwerth was born in 1903.
