Sherman H. Shoemaker

Sherman H. Shoemaker, 91, of Brownsville Road, died at 7:35 a.m. Sunday at his home.

He was a retired minister of the Church of the Brethern.

He was a retired carpenter.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Myers Chapel, with the Rev. William Pribble officiating. Burial will be in the Old Baptist cemetery. Friends may call at the Myers Chapel after 5 p.m. today.

He was born in Huntington county, Ind., on April 18, 1883, the son of Lewis A. and Elizabeth (Phillipi) Shoemaker.

On June 23, 1909, he was married to Matilda Elizabeth Ragan, who died in 1962.

Mr. Shoemaker is survived by three sons, Samuel of Lockport, Charles W. and Kenneth, both of Mt. Vernon; four daughters, Mrs. Cecil Carey, Mrs. Irene Peacock, Mrs. Ivalene Harlow, and Miss Beulah Shoemaker; all of Mt. Vernon; one brotherEarl Shoemaker of Tamaroa; one sister, Oda Gordon of Iuka; one brother in law, Walker Ragan of Mt. Vernon; 16 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren.
