Alice M. Shaw
Alice M. Shaw, 89, of Mt. Vernon died 3:50 p.m. Aug. 16, 2005, at 
Nature Trail Health Care Center. She was a homemaker. 

Mrs. Shaw was born Jan. 8, 1916, in Bluford to William J. and Maude 
(Voyles) Bean. She first married Raymond Vannatta March 28, 1937; he 
died Dec. 24, 1965. She later married Arvil O. Shaw Nov. 14, 1967, in 
Bluford; he died March 14, 1993. 

Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Oakdale Cemetery 
north of Bluford. The Rev. Gale Breeze will officiate. Friends may call 
from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. 

Mrs. Shaw is survived by a sister, Leona Vannatta of Mt. Vernon; a stepson, 
Larry Shaw and wife Sharon of Bluford; two step-grandchildren; and 
several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, two brothers and 
a sister. 

Mrs. Shaw was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 1376 of 
Mt. Vernon and American Legion Auxiliary Webber post in Bluford. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Hughey Funeral Home, where
