Jayne (Floyd) Setzekorn

Jayne (Floyd) Setzekorn, 81, of Mt. Vernon died 12:30 P.M. May 14, 2006, at her home.

Mrs. Setzekorn was born August 15, 1924, in Fort Smith, Arkansas the daughter of George and Della Jayne (Moore) Floyd.

On April 15, 1944, she married Dr. James W. Setzekorn at St. John's Methodist Church in St. Louis, Missouri; Dr. Setzekorn died November 20, 1993.

Jayne attended elementary school in Stillwater, Oklahoma, graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and attended Ward Belmont College for Women in Nashville, Tennessee. Jayne was a Jefferson County American Red Cross volunteer for many years serving on the Board and as Chapter Chairman. She also was on a committee to organize the Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary and served as the First President for two years. She was Administrative Counselor "Emeritus" of the Mitchell Museum at Cedarhurst, Member of the First United Methodist Church, P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter GO, Fortnightly Study Club, World Affairs Forum, and Priscilla Circle at First United Methodist Church.

A memorial services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 26, 2006 at First United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon, with the Rev. David Eadie officiating. Following the service Family will receive friends in the Zadok Casey Room at the church. Burial was held at Oakwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Setzekorn is survived by five Nephews, Dr. Lanny F. Trotter Edmond, Oklahoma, George B. Floyd, Hopkinsville, Kentucky, George C. Allen, Arlington, Texas, Michael Setzekorn Newburg, Indiana, and James A Setzekorn of St. Charles, Missouri; brother-in-law Dr. Jack Setzekorn of Dix; two nieces, Janet L. Setzekorn Tampa, Florida and Mrs. Charles H. Lewis of Dallas, Texas; 11 great nephews and three great nieces, one great-great niece, and one great-great nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two bothers, five sisters and one niece.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Good Samaritan Hospital Auxilary, Jefferson County American Red Cross, Girl Scout Little House, PEO Sisterhood Continuing Education Fund or the Charity of the donor's Choice and will be accepted by Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon or may be mailed to Newell Funeral Home 2707 North Street Mt. Vernon, Illinois 62864.
