Roy Lee Scrivner

Chenoa Veteran Taken Sunday at Dwight Hospital
Funeral Services Held Yesterday Afternoon at Local Funeral Home.

Roy Lee Scrivner, 47 died at 9:30 p.m., Sunday at the U.S. Veteran's hospital in Dwight (Illinois), following an illness of two months.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 pm at the Easton-Pils funeral home in this city, with the Rev. Charles L. Coleman officiating. Burial was made in the Opdyke cemetery at Mt. Vernon. The American Legion conducted its burial service as a part of the obsequies. Music at the Chenoa (Illinois) service was furnished by Miss Margie Burke, who sang two hymns, accompanied a the piano by Mrs. Gilber Pils.

Mr. Scrivner was born on Nov. 8 1899, in Jefferson County, a son of Joseph and Mary Scrivner.

He lived in Opdyke for 25 years before moving to Chenoa.

In 1922, he married Sadie Woods at Mt. Vernon. She preceded him in death in 1937.

Surviving are two brothers, Jodie of Mt. Vernon and John, of Bluford, and four sisters, Mrs. Aline Gowler, of Paducah, Ky, Mrs. S.D. Gibson of Chenoa, Mrs. Nora Sanders of Mt. Vernon and Miss Larena Scrivner of Belle Rive.

One brother and one sister preceded him in death.

Mr. Scrivner was a molder and a member of the Methodist Church and the American Legion.
