Homer L. Scrivner

HOMER L. SCRIVNER, 96, Mt. Vernon, died 5:36 a.m. April 11, 1993, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center.

Mr. Scrivner was a clerk for L & N Railroad for 47 years until retirement.

He was born Nov. 2, 1896, in Bluford, a son of Joel and Francis (Gentle) Scrivner.

June 22, 1922, in Salem, he married Mary E. Allen, who survives.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Pate officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home.

In addition to his wife, Mrs. Scrivner is survived by one daughter, Evelyn Foster and husband, Waldo, of Mt. Vernon; four sons, Joe H. Scrivner and wife, Marie, of Mt. Vernon, Bobby L. Scrivner and wife, Rita, of West Chester, Wayne A. Scrivner and wife , Dorothy, of Calumet City and Roy G. Scrivner and wife, Lois, of Bloomington; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Scrivner was a Baptist. He was a member of Railway Clerks Union.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
