Mary Jane (Etheridge) Scott

Mary J. Scott Of Bluford Dies; Rites Tomorrow

Mrs. Mary J. Scott of Bluford died at 5:25 a.m. yesterday in Jefferson memorial hospital. She was 79 years, seven month, and 28 days old.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Pleasant Hill Baptist church with Rev. Bird Green and Rev. Ross Partridge officiating. Burial will be in the adjoing cemetery.

The body will l ie in state at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix where friends may call after 5 p.m. today.

Mrs. Scott was a member of the Bluford Baptist church.

Mrs. Scott was born April 9, 1879, at Dyersburg, Tenn., the daughter of Richard and Jemima (Presley) Etheridge.

She was married to Elbert Scott, who died Nov. 7, 1933.

Survivors include two sons, Clyde Scott of Hammond, Ind., and Virgil Scott of Bluford; three daughters, Mrs. Blanche Body of Bluford, Mrs. Mabel Mount of Mt. Vernon, and Mrs. Wilma Hughes of Jackson, Miss.; one sister, Mrs. Laura Brydon of Bluford; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
