Harold Schrum Dies Suddenly At Age of 38 Years

Harold Harvey Schrum, 38, proprietor of Larry's Grill, died suddenly from a heart attack at 1:50 p.m. yesterday at his home, 1711 south Tenth street.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Pulley Funeral Home. The Rev. Bird Green will officiate and burial will be in Flint cemetery, near Belle Rive. The body will remain at the funeral home, where friends may call after 6:00 p.m. today.

Mr. Schrum was born November 22, 1915 in Mt. Vernon, the son of Earl and Ora (Foutch) Schrum.

On December 14, 1937 he was married, in Charleston, Mo., to Maine Elizabeth Martin, who survives.

Mr. Schrum had been a member of the Long Prairie Baptist church since he was a young man.

Besides his wife and his father, he is survived by two sons, Jimmy Ray and Harold Martin, both at home; a sister, Earline Tolley of Mt. Vernon; and an half-brother, Wendell Pritchett of Savana, ILL.

Harold Shrum Rites Tomorrow

Funeral services for Harold Harvey Shrum, 38-year old proprietor of Larry's Grill, will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Pulley Funeral Home with the Reverend Bird Green in charge.

Mr. Shrum died at 1:50 p.m. Thursday following a heart attack at his home, 1711 south Tenth street.

Note from Sandy: my Shrum ancestors always spelled their name as Shrum but some of the younger generation decided to change the spelling to Schrum (more like the original German name. This is not surprising their are two different obits with one spelling the name as Shrum and the other one as Schrum.
