George Sargent, born in 1941 in Rome Township, passed away Jan. 29, 2006, at age 64.

After an honorable discharge from the US Navy, he graduated from the University of Illinois in Bloomington. He was baptized at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

He lived in Milwaukee and Franklin, Wis., for the past 38 years.

He was active in little league, local politics, taught school and owned a photography business and a machinery brokering business.

Mr. Sargent is survived by his wife, Dora, and children Stephanie Sargent and Stephen (Catherine) Sargent.

He was the grandfather of Thomas, Jonathan and Caroline and the brother of Yvone (Karl) Whetzel and Myra Clary.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Juliett Birkner and Parker Sargent, and brothers David and Larry Sargent.
