Vera Russell Of Bluford Died At Age 77

Vera Irene Russell, 77, Bluford, died 8:30 p.m. Dec. 26, 1989, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Russell was born Aug 14, 1912, in Jefferson County, a daughter of Lewis and Annie (French) Williams.

Dec 31, 1928, in Jefferson County, she married Raymond Ray Russell, who died March 26, 1968.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Ralph Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in East Hickory Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Russell is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Dean (Louise) Phelps of Opdyke, Mrs. Dorothy Tittle of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Clyde (Helen) Maxey of Salem and Mrs. Bert (Margie) Lappin of Woodlawn; three sons, Charles Russell and wife, Mildred, Donald Russell and wife, Charlotte, and George Russell and wife, Sue, all of Bluford; two sisters, Mrs. William (Burnett) Wells of Norwalk, Calif., and Mrs. Lorene Slate of Elsinore, Calif.; 23 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs.. Russell was a member of East Hickory Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, one sister, one grandson and one great-granddaughter.
