Connie Sue (Lacey) Russell

Connie Sue Russell, 62, of Mt. Vernon died at 2:03 p.m. Jan. 6, 2005 at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

She was employed by the City of Mt. Vernon as a tourist host at the Mt. Vernon Tourism and Visitors Bureau.

She was born May 15, 1942 in Mt. Vernon.

She married Lowell Russell on Oct. 10, 1964 in Herrin. He died Oct. 14, 1998.

Funeral services will at 1 p.m. Monday at Hughey Funeral Home with burial to follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. Pastor Ken Berryman will officiate. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

She is survived by her father, Richard Lacey, of Mt. Vernon; one son, Brad Russell of Mt. Vernon; one stepdaughter, Loletta Pasley and husband, David of Mt. Vernon; special friend, Gary South of Dix; three brothers, Maurice "Mike" Lacey and wife Mary of Pensacola, FL., Steve Lacey and wife Debbie of Mt. Vernon, Jeff Lacey of Mt. Vernon; four nieces, Julie Lacey of St. Louis, MO., Melissa Elliott and husband Blake of Mt. Vernon, Ashleigh Lacey of Mt. Vernon Brooke Lacey of Mt. Vernon; one great niece, Emily Elliott of Mt. Vernon; step-grandchildren Amber Farmer and husband, Duke of Mt. Vernon, and Darl Pasley of Mt. Vernon and one step great-grandson, A.J. Farmer of Mt. Vernon.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother Eyla Lacey and one brother, Ronald Lacey.

Mrs. Russell was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.

She enjoyed spending time with her friends, especially with the Golden Girls.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon.
