She was born July 21, 1914, in Jefferson County, a daughter of Walter A. and Lenora Mable (Duncan) Stewart.

She married Geno Ralph Rogers on Nov. 17, 1934, in Mt. Vernon; he preceded her in death on Oct. 18, 1995.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. he Rev. Jesse Allen will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Sesser. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home.

Survivors include a daughter, Lenora Baker of Mt. Vernon; a son, Stewart Gene Rogers and wife Linda of Nason; six grandchildren, Cindy Baker, Karla Salisbury, Stephanie Johnson, Crystal Lynch, Greg Rogers and Pam Page; 11 great-grandchildren, Brian and Blake Salisbury, Chelsea, Jacob and Gabriel Johnson, Jason, Kyle and Bradley Duncan, Derek Tepovich, Matthew Rogers and Gabriel Page; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; eight brothers, Albert, Charles, Virgil, Arthur, Walter, James, Bill and Bert Stewart; three sisters, Lela Wisely, Freda Tolley and Mildred Bott; and a son-in-law, Carl Baker.

LuVera was baptized in 1935 at Elk Prairie Christian Church; in 1965, she joined Southwest Christian Church until her health began to fail. In her later years, she attended Nason Freewill Baptist Church, which was close to her home. LuVera was very active in the churches she belonged to; she was involved with the music program, she was a Sunday school teacher for both adults and youth, and she was a vacation Bible school teacher. She was also a member of the Jefferson County Home Extension and was a 4-H leader.
