Phyllis (Zenzen) Roffmann

Phyllis Zenzen Roffmann, 70, of Mt. Vernon died 5:15 a.m. Jan. 15, 2006, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

She was the retired owner/operator and administrator of Nature Trail Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon.

Mrs. Roffmann was born July 6, 1935, in St. Louis to John Andrew and Elamay (Reith) Zenzen.

She married William Harold Roffmann Dec. 29, 1956, in St. Louis; he preceded her in death June 7, 1992.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Vernon. The Rev. Rob Dyer will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Vernon.

Mrs. Roffmann is survived by two sons, William H. Roffmann of Carbondale and John Roffmann of Mt. Vernon; three daughters, Jennifer Grant and husband John of Columbus, Ohio, Amy Roffmann-New of Chandler, Ariz., and Emily Rogers and husband Scott of Mt. Vernon; and grandchildren Allison Grant, Alex Grant, Edison Roffmann, Jimmy Roffmann and Kaitlyn Rogers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Elizabeth Ann Zenzen.

Mrs. Roffmann was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Vernon. She was past president of the Illinois Healthcare Administration, past treasurer of the National Healthcare Administration, was a board member and past president of the National Administrators Board (nursing home administrator’s licensing agency), was a member of the Southern Illinois University-Carbondale Foundation Board of Directors for many years, a member of the Mt. Vernon Township High School Board of Education from 1974 to 1978, and a past board member of the Girl Scouts of America Shagbark Council.

For those who wish, memorials may be given to the American Red Cross and will be accepted at the church and at the funeral home. They may also be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt.
