Hazel I. (Felty) Riggs

Hazel I. Riggs Cemetery: Williams Chapel, Ewing

HAZEL IRENE RIGGS, 69 of Mt. Vernon and late of Milton, Fla., died 11:50 p.m. April 8, 1993, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.

Mrs. Riggs was a presser for American Laundry for several years.

She was born Feb. 10, 1924, in Mt. Vernon, a daughter of Henry and Christiana (Beppler)Felty.

May 7, 1944, in McLeansboro, she married William Earl Riggs, who died March 26, 1954.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Williams Chapel Cemetery in Ewing with the Rev. Glen Johnson officiating. Those attending the graveside services are asked to go directly to the cemetery Tuesday morning. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home.

Mrs. Riggs is survived by three daughters, Donna Lowery and husband, Terry "Smoke", of Mt. Vernon, Jacqueline Taylor and husband, Leon, of Pace, Fla., and Jeannie Easterly and husband, Michael, of Gorham; one son, William "Buddy" Riggs and wife, Sandy, of Vacaville, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Bullock, Michael Easterly, Aaron Easterly, Russell Taylor, Richard Taylor, Billie Jean Riggs and Timothy Riggs; one great-granddaughter, Heather Riggs; one half-brother, Arlin Bitner and wife, LaVerne, of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Riggs was a member of South Side Baptist Church and a past member of Mt. Vernon Eagles Lodge Auxiliary.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; one sister; and one granddaughter, Amy Taylor
