Thelma Sue (Tate) Richardson

Thelma Sue Richardson, 63, of Mt. Vernon died 4:07 a.m. March 30, 2005, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Richardson was born Oct. 12, 1941, in Bluford to Hershel and Elizabeth Lucille (Wilson) Tate.

She married Marvin E. Richardson Oct. 15, 1963, in Mt. Vernon; he survives.

Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Olive Cemetery in rural Jefferson County. The Rev. Gale Breeze will officiate. Those attending the services are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Saturday morning. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Mrs. Richardson is survived by her husband, Marvin E. Richardson of Mt. Vernon; a son, Marvin Alan Richardson and wife Heather of Mt. Vernon; four daughters, Cindy Blazier and husband Jim of Woodlawn, Kim Bevis and husband Allan of Woodlawn, Twila Barbre and husband Bennie of Mt. Vernon and Sylvia Richardson of Mt. Vernon; a stepson, Charlie Patterson of Mt. Vernon; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; seven sisters, Hershella Warren and husband Everett of O'Fallon, Mo., Louise Braddock of Michigan, Romona Ellis and husband Les of Mt. Vernon, Virginia Bryant of Champaign, Linda Tate of Mt. Vernon, Nancy Spangler of Woodlawn and Teresa Morris and husband Dave of Bluford; three brothers, William Tate and wife Carolyn of Mt. Vernon, Norman Ray Tate of Monroe, La., and Gleason Tate and wife Laura of Benton, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Leota Graves, Norma Rutherford and Gail Gersbacker; a brother, Fred Alan Tate; and a grandson, Kyan Richardson.

Mrs. Richardson was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
