Carl H. Richard

Carl H. Richard, 74, of Mt. Vernon died 5:15 p.m. March 29, 2006, at his residence.

He was a coal miner for 20 years at Consolidated Coal Co. and also worked at the Stove Foundry for 26 years.

Mr. Richard was born Sept. 23, 1931, in Williamson County to Edwin and Kathryn (Davis) Richard.

He married Mildred (Williams) Richard April 25, 1949, in Kentucky; she survives.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. The Revs. Buss Hart and Bill Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Military flag presentation will be conducted by the chaplain of Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Mr. Richard is survived by his wife, Mildred Richard of Mt. Vernon; a son, Gerald Richard and wife Paula of Dix; a daughter, Carla Moyer and husband Donnie of Mt. Vernon; seven grandchildren, Juli Richard of Carbondale, Tiffany Richard of Dix, Quinn Perigo of Atlanta, Ga., Ryan Perigo of Mt. Vernon, Tammy McGhee and husband John of Mt. Vernon, Rachel Etheridge and husband Scott of Mt. Vernon and Josh Moyer of Mt. Vernon; six great-grandchildren, Bailey Perigo of Mt. Vernon, Ian McGhee of Mt. Vernon, Caleigh McGhee of Mt. Vernon, Spencer McGhee of Mt. Vernon, Kyle Etheridge of Mt. Vernon and Ryan Etheridge of Mt. Vernon; three brothers, Henry Richard and wife Winiford of West Frankfort, Clarence Richard and wife Diane of Pittsburg, Ohio, and Wayne Richard and wife June of Mt. Vernon; five sisters, Eva Roberts of West Frankfort, Roberta Jennings and husband Ralph of Johnston City, Alice Richard of Johnston City, Mary Ellen Grant of Marion and Yvonne Kirk and husband Dennis of Johnston City; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jack and Harry Richard; and a sister, Brenda Richard.

Mr. Richard was a member of Casey Avenue Baptist Church and American Legion Post 141 in Mt. Vernon.
