Frank C. Reid

Frank C. Reid, Sr., 83, of Centralia, and a former resident of Mt. Vernon, died at 2 p.m. Thursday after a sudden illness.

He was a retired employee of the Illinois Power Co., retiring in 1962.

Mr. Reid was born in Mt. Vernon June 26, 1897, the son of Robert and Mary Reid.

On December 25, 1920, in Mt. Vernon, he married Anne Dodds, who survives.

A Navy veteran of World War I, Mr. Reid had been a resident of Centralia for about 50 years. Mr. Reid was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Centralia, the Centralia American Legion Post No. 446 and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of the Luer Funeral Home in Centralia with Dr. Ira Thetford officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Friends of the family may call after 6 p.m. today and on Saturday until the funeral hour at the funeral home.

Besides his wife, survivors include one son, Frank Reid Jr. of Centralia; two adopted grandchildren, John Robert Reid of Hoyleton and Brenda Evans of Godfrey, who lived in the Reid home; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Maude Perry and Lela Green; and an infant daughter, Betty Ann."
