Sophia B. Ratajczyk
Sophia B. Ratajczyk, 94, of Scheller passed away 4:35 p.m. July 25, 
2006, at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. She was a 
homemaker. She was a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church in Scheller 
and a member of St. Barbara Alter Sodality. 

Mrs. Ratajczyk was born Sept. 6, 1911, in Du Bois, a daughter of Frank 
and Martha (Kujawski) Zmudzinski. She married Leonard J. Ratajczyk 
Sept. 22, 1931, in Du Bois; he preceded her in death Dec. 18, 1993. 

She is survived by a daughter, Sylvia Polizzi and husband Frank of 
St. Louis; two sons, Ronald Ratajczyk and wife Nina of Tamaroa and 
Robert Ratajczyk of Scheller; a brother, Dominic Zmudzinski of Du Bois; 
two sisters, Tillie Czerwinski of Scheller and Salomae Hoffman of Ashley; 
six grandchildren, Renee Kubicki and husband Dennis of Scheller, Timothy 
Ratajczyk of Valier, Master Sgt. Leonard Ratajczyk and wife Tami, stationed 
at Lajes Field, Azores, Portugal, Richard Spicuzza and wife Daisy of St. Louis, 
Tony Spicuzza and wife Diane of St. Louis and Christine Tyson and husband 
Matthew of St. Louis; and six great-grandchildren, Chelsea Kubicki, T.J. 
Ratajczyk, Jennifer Ratajczyk, Ian Ratajczyk, Sophia Ratajczyk and Nickolas Spicuzza. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter-in-law, 
Rosalie Ratajczyk; a sister, Julia Kabat; a brother, Gus Zmudzinski; and a 
granddaughter, Diana Spicuzza. 

Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Friday at St. Barbara Catholic 
Church in Scheller, with the Rev. Robert Zwilling officiating. Friends may call 
from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa. Rosary will be prayed 
7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Interment will be at St. Barbara Cemetery in
