Alice Leona (Davis) Rand

Huntington -- Services are to be held today for Alice Leona Rand, 66, who died of cancer at her home at 448 W. Main St. Friday.

Mrs. Rand had spent much of the past two years in Huntington Hospital, suffering from throat cancer.

The former Alice Davis, she was born in Mt. Vernon, Ill., where she lived until meeting her husband. They were married in Texas in 1949. They later lived for a year in Colorado Springs, Colo, before moving to Huntington in 1951. An avid gardener, Mrs. Rand was a member of the Long Island Horticultural Society. She was also a member of the Untington Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and the Centerport Harbor Yacht Club.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Ellis Rand, an orthopedic sugeon, a son, James of Rochest, Minn.; and two sisters, Gertrude Sanders of Wayne City, Ill., and Arzetta johnson, of Bluford, Ill.

Relationship: My grandaunt, sister of my maternal grandfather, Alfred Davis (1900-1967), they are the children of David B. Davis (1871-1957) and Sarah Elizabeth Shrum (1869-1940). Alice and her husband Dr. Ellis Rand are buried at Lebanon Cemetery, in Lebanon, Laclede County, Missouri where their only daughter, Pamela Rand (1941-1947) is buried. Ellis was in the Army at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO at the time Pamela died.
