Oscar Lee Rainey

Oscar Lee Rainey, 81, of Mt. Vernon died 1:55 p.m. Nov. 13, 2004, at Nature Trail Health Care Center.

He was born Feb. 27, 1923, in Mt. Vernon to Clarence and Myrtle (Bradford) Rainey.

Mr. Rainey married Catherine Frances (Lane) Rainey on July 30, 1949, in Mt. Vernon.

He was a welder at the Mt. Vernon Car Shops and a television repairman for Montgomery Ward.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II for three years doing duty in both oceans.

Chapel services are set for 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. Those attending the services are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Tuesday afternoon. The Rev. Olen Weatherford will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation is set for noon at the Chapel in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his sister, Faye Pasley of Mt. Vernon and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter Debra Rainey, brothers Howard Rainey and Harold Rainey, and sisters Mae Harville and Alice Beaty.

Mr. Rainey was a member of American Legion Post 141 and VFW Post 1376.
