Elmer E. Rainey

Elmer E. Rainey, 83, of Mt. Vernon died 9:45 a.m. Jan. 22, 2005, at Mt. Vernon Care Center.

He was a retired, self-employed painter and carpet layer.

Mr. Rainey was born Jan. 28, 19021, in Mt. Vernon died Albert and Mamie (Sullivan) Rainey.

He married Bonnie (Smith) Rainey July 12, 1941, in Mt. Vernon; she survives.

Graveside services were to be held 1 p.m. today at Oakwood Cemetery. Randy Steele will officiate. Those attending the services were asked to go directly to the cemetery this afternoon. No public visitation will be held.

Mr. Rainey is survived by his wife, Bonnie Rainey of Mt. Vernon; two sons, Rusty Rainey of Mt. Vernon and Michael Rainey and wife Sharon of Punta Gorda, Fla.; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers, Gerald Rainey and wife Lottie of Mt. Vernon and Charles Rainey and wife Annie of Pensacola, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Albert, Alfred and Harold Rainey.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, where you may call 242-3348 for obituary information at any time.
