Lindenwood - Alta F. Purvis, 74, Rural Route 1, died April 5 (1982) at Swedish American Hospital, Rockford after a short illness.

She was born Dec. 7, 1907 in Belle Rive to George and Effie (Bennett) Shrum.

She married William A. Purvis Sept. 25, 1926 in Elgin and he preceded her in death Jan. 7, 1980.

She was also preceded in death by one grandson.

She was a member of the Foursquare Church, Rochelle.

Survivors include a son, William A. Jr., Rockford, and give daughters, Mrs. Homer (Juanita) Williams, Franklin Grove, Mrs. Jack (Veneta) Campbell, Stevens Point, Wis., Mrs. Robert (Betty) Walsh, Crystal Lake, Mrs. Robert (Deloris) Schaneberg, Ashton; Mrs. Allen (Doris) Gittleson; Rochelle, 23 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, Rochelle with the Rev. V.S. Defants Jr., pastor of the Foursquare church, officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Trinity Memory Gardens Cemetery, Rochelle. A memorial has been established to the church.
